SEBASTIEN AKBIK JOINS CHRONOS TEAM ADDING RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT AND MINING EXPERTISE
Chronos Sustainability (“Chronos”), the award-winning sustainability consultancy, has announced the appointment of Sebastien Akbik as Manager, Responsible Investment.
Sebastien will take a leading role in the research and secretariat services that Chronos provides to the Global Investor Commission on Mining 2030, a landmark initiative backed by investors with US$15 trillion in assets under management to develop consensus about the role of finance in realising a vision of a socially and environmentally responsible mining sector. He will also contribute to the company’s wider work including its Responsible Investment programme.
Sebastien joins from the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment where, as governance specialist, he helped develop its views on complex topics from tax and transparency to human rights and created guidance for both companies and investors. He has also worked with environmental consulting firm Digby Wells Environmental as ESG Consultant for the mining sector.

Sebastien is the latest addition to Chronos’ team and its network of global sustainability experts. Chronos’ recent appointments include Ria Popat and Katherine Button in the Animal Welfare team; Tanya Cox in the Biodiversity & Nature team; David Russell as European Sustainable Investment Specialist, and Pins Brown as Human Rights Specialist.
Chronos was named Sustainability Consultancy of the Year in the edie Awards 2023, the UK's largest sustainable business awards. It was also named Best Sustainable Investment Consultancy in the Investment Week Sustainable Investment Awards 2023, and was Environmental Finance’s Consultant/Advisor of the Year in its 2022 and 2023 Impact Awards.
