CHRONOS SUSTAINABILITY ANNOUNCES THREE NEW APPOINTMENTS
- Leading sustainability advisory firm adds expertise in food, animal welfare and governance to double down on sustainability objectives
London, 10 June 2021, Chronos Sustainability (“Chronos”), the specialist sustainability advisory firm is bolstering its expertise with three new appointments. The appointments support the firm’s strategic objectives to deliver transformative, systemic change on a range of issues across a range of global industry sectors, and reflect the sustained and continuing growth of Chronos’ business in the three years since launch.
Dr Jon Day, Chronos’s Chief Operating Officer has been appointed Director, Food Programmes. In this dual-role, Jon will continue his executive director responsibilities whilst expanding his remit to provide strategic oversight of Chronos’ growing food business and sustainability portfolio, which includes working with multinational companies as well as delivering or supporting multistakeholder initiatives such as the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW), the Global Coalition for Animal Welfare (GCAW), and the Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI) and a number of corporate clients.
Jon has more than 30 years’ experience in the agri-food sector. As well as being an experienced leader and in both academic and commercial environments, he has built an international reputation for his research in behavioural science, nutrition and animal welfare. Jon is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and is a Registered Animal Scientist.
Basia Romanowicz joins Chronos’ food and animal welfare division as Senior Programme Manager. Basia is a specialist in farm animal welfare and environmental sustainability. She joins Chronos from Compassion in World Farming (CIWF), where, as Food Business Manager, she worked with companies to develop policy and strategy for improved welfare. Prior to CIWF, Basia was head of farm animal research at World Animal Protection, where she provided detailed technical support to projects in Europe, China and Brazil.
At Chronos, Basia will be principally responsible for project management of the BBFAW where she will work with the wider Chronos team to help lead strategy, boost technical and research capacity and inform the development of BBFAW as it enters its tenth benchmark cycle and beyond.
Lyndsey Hurley has joined Chronos as Company Secretary and Director, Corporate Governance and Ethics. Lyndsey will join Chronos’ leadership team providing specialist company secretary support to Chronos as well as providing corporate governance and ethics consultancy to Chronos’ clients.
Lyndsey is a Chartered Governance Professional (ACIS) and has to date been providing secretariat support to Chronos change programmes and supported client projects on a consultancy basis, before taking up this permanent position.
