Dr Heleen van de Weerd is a global farm animal welfare consultant whose specialism lies in working with clients to apply welfare knowledge in order to improve the quality of animals lives as well as business performance.
Gaining an international reputation for her research and knowledge in this field. Heleen has conducted farm animal welfare policy evaluation at a national and EU level, and regularly works for the European Commission on animal welfare policy. She also provides technical pig welfare advice for World Animal Protection in China.
Heleen has published 32 fully refereed papers and 61 abstracts and proceedings in the field of animal behaviour and welfare science. At Chronos, Heleen’s principal projects include the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare and the Global Coalition for Animal Welfare. Heleen is also owner director of Cerebrus Associates which she co-founded in 2012 and provides specialist consultancy to the life sciences sector.
